La casa de un surfista / A surfer´s house

Hoy os escribo desde la playa (me estoy tomando un fin de semana largo :)) así que vamos a visitar la casa de un surfista, una sencilla casa típica portuguesa, reformada por el estudio de arquitectura Paratelier. Se ha dividido en cuatro espacios; la cocina, dormitorio y baño y una zona de trabajo por la que sólo se accede desde el exterior. Han aprovechado las separaciones como lugares de almacenamiento; son sencillos tabiques de madera blanca con estantes en toda la superficie. Es una reforma muy ingeniosa y bonita. ¡Vamos a verla!

I write to you from the beach today (I´m taking a long weekend off :)) so we are going to visit a surfer´s house, a simple and typical Portuguese house designed by the architectural studio Paratelier. The space has been divided in four little spaces; the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and a workplace that only can be entered from the outside. The dividing walls are the stocking areas, they are white wood walls with shelves in the whole surface. It´s a very beautiful and clever reform. Let´s see it!

El suelo continuo de cemento pulido, el mobiliario de madera de alta densidad (aunque parece cartón!), todas las paredes blancas hacen de esta casa pequeña un lugar acogedor, perfecto para la persona que vive aquí. ¿Qué os parece? A mi me ha encantado, ¡feliz fin de semana!

The concrete floor, MDF furniture (although it looks like cardboard!), the white walls make this little house a cozy place, perfect for the person who lives here. What do you think? I love it! Happy weekend!

Un clásico renovado / A renewed classic

Hoy nos vamos a una vivienda maravillosamente decorada, con una paleta de color muy suave y preciosa y elementos clásicos con toques de modernidad (sí, lo viejo es ahora moderno!) Está en Australia y la diseñadora es Romaine Alwill, que en su web tiene otros trabajos preciosos. ¡Vamos a verla!

We are going to a wonderfully decorated house, with a smooth and precious colour palette and some classic elements with little touches of modernity (yes! The old is now modern!) It is in Australia and the designer is Romaine Alwill. Go to her web to find more beautiful interiors. Let´s see it!

¿Qué os ha parecido? El esquema es el que mejor resulta; un color neutro para el continente, carpinterías lacadas blancas y suaves toques de color en pequeñas superficies, como sofás, cojines, detalles como el coche del niño. ¡Feliz día!

What do you think? The colour scheme is the easiest and the best; a neutral for the continent, doors and skirtings in white and little smooth touches of colour in small surfaces, like sofas, blankets, the little kid´s car… Have a happy day!

Una casa de vacaciones en Suecia / A holiday house in Sweden

Llega el tiempo de pensar en las vacaciones y a mi me gusta mucho el fresquito del Norte. He encontrado esta casa en una isla sueca (para comprar el periódico tienen que pasar al continente en barca) que me ha enamorado, sus jardines, los colores (verde, blanco, rojo), el empanelado en paredes y techos tan acogedor. Vamos a verla!

It´s time to think about the holidays and I really like the freshness of the North. I found this house in a Swedish island ( they have to take a boat to buy the newspaper) and I fell in love with it; the garden, the colours (green, white, red), the warm paneling in the ceilings and walls. Let´s see it!

La casa de The socialite family / The socialite familiy´s house

Hoy vamos a visitar la casa de los que más saben de casas. Ellos tienen la página web The socialite family, página de la que saco algunas casa que os enseño. Visitan las viviendas de familias formadas por gente muy creativa. El proyecto que voy a poner en marcha a partir de Septiembre parte de esta idea, visitar viviendas de gente creativa y comentarlas desde el punto de vista de la interiorista que soy.

Esta vivienda se encuentra en París, en un barrio de artistas. Está amueblado con piezas recogidas de mercados de pulgas. Fijaos en la iluminación a base de apliques, sin puntos de luz en el techo; los muebles de mimbre y el escritorio precioso de los años 50.

We are visiting the house of the people who know most about houses. They have The Socialite Family web site, from where I take some houses I´ve showed to you. They visit creative families´s houses and the result is brilliant! The project I´m starting in September comes out from this idea, visiting creative people´s houses and analyze them as the interior designer I am.

This house is located in Paris, in a designers and artistic neighbourhood. It´s furnished with pieces from brocantes. Take a look and be aware of the lighthing (wall lamps, no ceiling lamps), furniture made out of wicker and the beautiful 50`s desk.

El verano en la casa / Summer in the house

Se ha colado el verano en la casa. De repente se ha llenado todo de flores, de colores pastel, de cosas bonitas. Dan ganas de dar un paseo entre sus paredes y admirar todos los detalles. ¡Vamos a verla!

Summer is in the house. Everything is full of flowers, soft colours, beautiful things. I feel like walking around between the walls and admire every detail. Let´s see it!

Esta vivienda de aire romántico se encuentra en Buenos Aires y es el hogar de Gabi, paisajista y decoradora. ¿Qué os ha parecido? Me ha gustado mucho, es como un pequeño pastel. Buen día!

El efecto de un techo oscuro / The effect of a dark ceiling.

Una de las preguntas más frecuentes de clientes es cómo se puede cambiar la sensación de un espacio mediante la pintura. Hoy os quiero mostrar el efecto de un techo oscuro. Me ha gusta el estilo de esta vivienda, pero no creo que hayan acertado en este dormitorio. Hace el espacio mucho más bajo y más oscuro.

One of the my client´s frequent asked questions is how the colour of the walls and ceilings can change the sensation of the space. I want to show you the effect of a dark ceiling. I like the style of this house, but i don´t think this room looks right. It makes the room shorter and darker.

De vacaciones en Suecia / In Sweden for the holidays

Ya es verano y nos apetece mucho ir de vacaciones a Suecia. Allí hemos encontrado esta preciosa casa restaurada por los dueños y amueblada con objetos encontrados en brocantes y mercados de segunda mano de la isla de Gotland. Ya sabéis lo que me gusta dar otra oportunidad a objetos y materiales con vida, ¡aprovechemos lo que tenemos!

Esta vivienda ha sido fotografiada por Martin Lof y su dueño Peter Gehrke es fotógrafo de moda. Está situada cerca del mar, tiene un huerto centenario en el que crece de todo y un invernadero para aprovechar la luz de invierno. Es un regalo para la vista. ¡Feliz día!

It´s already summer, and we feel like going to Sweden on vacation. We´ve found this beautiful and old house there, refurbished by the owners with furniture from brocantes and auctions in Gotland, an isle in Sweden. You know how much I like to give another chance to things and furniture still with life, let´s use what we have!

Peter Gherke, a fashion photographer is the owner of this house, and Martin Lof made all the beautiful pictures. The house is located by the sea, has an ancient garden with a lot of plants and trees and a greenhouse to enjoy the winter light. It´s an eye candy, have a happy day!

En una casa azul y amarillo / In a blue and yellow house.

Hoy visitamos una vivienda decorada en azul y amarillo. Estos dos colores son primarios, puros, es decir, a partir de ellos surgen otros como el verde por su mezcla, el naranja y el violeta mezclados con rojo. Es una combinación atrevida y fuerte, pero vamos a ver cómo se ha combinado en este caso. Se ha elegido un azul frío, tirando a gris, lo que lo convierte en un color casi neutro. El amarillo es un color que está muy de moda este año. ¡Vamos a ver cómo queda!

We are visiting a house all decorated in blue and yellow. These two are pure colours, this is, other colours come from them like green, blue and yellow; orange and purple, mixed with red. It´s a brave and strong combination, but we are going to see how they have been combined in this case. The blue is a cold one, almost grey, which makes it a neutral. I think yellow is very trendy this summer. Let´s see how they look together!

La casa de la terraza / The house of the terrace

No me he querido resistir a mostraros la casa de donde saqué la terraza de ayer. Como os contaba, se trata de una casa señorial victoriana, de finales del siglo XVIII. Hace tres años que la interiorista Caecilia Potter y su familia se mudaron aquí; tuvo que hacer un trabajo de reforma importante, pero manteniendo mucho los materiales originales, lo que creo que siempre se debe de hacer. La decoración es una mezcla de muebles más clásicos con piezas actuales, colores alegres con otros más apagados y neutros. Me ha encantado, así que quiero que veáis todas las fotos, ¡merecen mucho la pena!

I couldn´t resist to show you the house of yesterday´s terrace. As I told you, it´s a Victorian house (s.XVIII). Three years ago, the interior designer Caecilia Potter and family moved here; a major refurbishing had to be done, but they kept a lot of the original materials, what I think is always the right thing to do. The interior design is a mixture of classic furniture and modern; bright colours mixed with neutrals. I love this house; maybe there are too many pictures of the interior, but I think it deserves taking a look!

Con una estilista de interiores / With an interior stylist

Hoy visitamos la vivienda vacacional de una estilista de interiores británica llamada Twig Hutchinson. El estilista de interiores se dedica a crear composiciones atractivas en diferentes puntos del interior de una vivienda, por ejemplo, encima de la mesa de comedor, en el mostrador de la cocina, en todo un espacio como el salón, … La mayoría de fotos de las revistas de decoración son estilismos creados para la ocasión; la vida real y cotidiana de la vivienda suele ser otra, por eso me gustan tanto las casa de gente real. Vamos a ver la casa, que está claramente influenciada por lo francés y toda decorada en tonos neutros.

We visit the summer house of a british interior stylist called Twig Hitchinson. Interior stylists make beautiful compositions in different spots inside of a house, for example, the table of the dining room, the counter in the kitchen, all the space in the living room… Most of the pictures in deco magazines are made by interior stylist for the occasion, that´s why I love real houses of real people. Let´s see the house, that is clearly influenced by the French and it´s decorated in neutrals.

¿Qué os parece? Las fotografías son preciosas, pero ¿no echáis en falta un poco de color, de calidez? Es un ambiente un poco frío para mi gusto. Un toquecito de color (amarillo!) en flores, telas, cojines, alfombras incluso en los platos o tazas hubiera dado la calidez que falta.

What do you think? These pictures are beautiful, but don´t you miss a little colour, a little warmth? I think it´s a little bit cold for me. A little touch of colour (yellow!) in some flowers, textiles, rugs, even in plates and cups, should have given the warmth it´s needed.
